Weather

Weather. It's pretty incredible. It can be beautiful, mystifying, confusing, or scary. Right now, Hurricane Bill is heading towards us here in Nova Scotia. I'm sitting her watching it getting darker and more windy and rainy by the minute(note: this may be an exaggeration. Just a little, though). It's been downgraded to a Category 1 (which is still pretty scary), and where I am we've just got a heavy rainfall warning(I'm hoping our basement doesn't flood and that I don't loose power), not a hurricane/tropical storm warning They upgraded all of Nova Scotia to a Tropical Storm Warning, but we're still in for some extreme weather today.

When the weather gets crazy, people pull out the cameras. Check out these videos, and be thankful if your weather is on the mild end of the scale today.

Review: Pringle's Baked Wheat Sticks - Honey Butter Flavor

So, one of my co-workers gave me a single serving pack of these as I was leaving work. Before giving them to me, he asked if I enjoyed eating straight butter. I told him that I didn't, but he gave them to me anyway, telling me to feel free to throw them away if I didn't like them. I accepted my free gift, threw them into my purse and promptly forgot about them for four days. When I finally did remember I had them, I decided to give them a try. I thought my co-worker was exaggerating about the butter flavor, but I was wrong. Imagine that you are buttering a slice of bread, and you're not really paying attention to what you're doing. When you finish, (remember, you're not paying attention to what you're doing), and you lick the (thankfully not at all sharp) butter knife. That same flavor is the first thing that hits you as you bite into these sticks. Not that I've ever done that. When anyone was watching. Anyway... After chewing a bit you get a sweet honey flavor and a carbyness that's actually kind of pleasant. Not pleasant enough to make up for the awful butter beginning, however.

Dear Pringles,

Butter-y flavor is good. Flavored like a stick of butter...not so much.

Sincerely,
dee

I would not recommend these to anyone ever. Unless you like to torture your self. Or like eating straight butter.

You Suck at Craigslist

You Suck at Craigslist is my new favorite site on the internet. I spent several days at work (in between doing actual work) reading this site, and laughing hysterically. Seriously, the girl sitting next to me turned to me at one point and asked, "What is wrong with you?". I gave her the web address so she could enjoy it too.

The site features unintentionally funny ads pulled from craigslist, you'll find things like poor spelling and typos (like this person selling "Two Aquarians"), insane personal ads ("Build a new, rational, primitive but free life w/ me in Alaskas wild") and the plain bizarre(religious pet puppet shows...). My absolute favorite is this one. Incredible. The fourth comment down is pretty awesome too.

If you've got some time to kill and need a laugh (and really, who doesn't need a laugh now and then?), check out the site.

Review: Java Monster - Coffee Energy Drink

I generally don't buy energy drinks. Not because I don't like them. Mostly because they come in a can. I don't like a beverage container I can't re-close(Exception: alcoholic beverages. Usually once I open one, I'm not taking it anywhere else, so it doesn't need to close). That being said, my love of coffee and coffee flavored things won out over my dislike of cans when I saw this at a gas station convenience store. I'm not sure how much I payed for it, but I'm sure it was way too much.

It smells like coffee. Just coffee, nothing else. That's a good thing in my books, by the way.

It's sweet, but not overpoweringly so. It more or less just taste like iced coffee with sugar and cream. I don't put sugar in my coffee, but I probably would in my iced coffee. So, yeah. It was good. I enjoyed it. But I could have made the same thing myself at home out of items I already had in my fridge and cupboard. It would have been cheaper, and just as good if not better.

Overall, it was good, but I wouldn't buy it again.
