It's Tuesday, Lets Party!

...because today is Have a Party with your Bear Day!
Yeah. I know, that's a little weird, right? Not to be confused with Teddy Bear Picnic Day (July 10th) or Teddy Bear Day (September 9th), today you should get some balloons, don your party hats and get down with your teddy bear friend (or actual bear friend, I suppose, if you have one).

If you're not into that, you could always celebrate Button Day.

6 Really Terrible "Walked into a Bar" Jokes

...that I laughed at anyway.

A man walked into a bar and sat down next to a man with a dog at his feet. "Does your dog bite?" he asked. "No." A few minutes later the dog took a huge chunk out of the man's leg. "I thought you said your dog doesn't bite!" he said indignantly. The other guy replied, "That's not my dog."

This baby seal walks into a bar and the bartender says,"What'll ya have..." The seal says, "Anything but a Canadian Club...

A neutron walks into a bar. "I'd like a beer" he says. The bartender promptly serves up a beer. "How much will that be?" asks the neutron. "For you?" replies the bartender, "no charge"

This skeleton walks into a bar and says, "I'd like a beer and a mop..."

Two peanuts walked into a bar, and one was a-salted...

Two cartons of yogurt walk into a bar. The bartender says to them, "We don't serve your kind in here." One of the yogurt cartons says back to him, "Why not? We're cultured individuals."

What's your favorite "Walked into a Bar" joke?

Strange Diets - Some of these are really weird. Dear everyone: If you want to lose weight, eat food - real food. Eat lots of colorful plants. And get some exercise. It really is that simple (notice I said simple, not easy).

Part of our Heritage

Heritage Minutes - better known as those part of our heritage commercials, are short films detailing parts of Canadian History. I got thinking about them when I posted the Flander's Fields one on Remembrance Day. This short blurb makes it sound like they still play them on Canadian tv, but I can't remember the last time I saw one. None the less, they are a huge memory generator, and they're pretty awesome. Here are some of my favorites.

How Canada Got it's Name

Superman

The Underground Railroad

Winnie the Pooh

Free Heath Care

Basketball

Irish Orphans

Women in Medicine

Dr. Wilder Penfield
(this one is a bit quite, you may have to crank your speakers)

Mona Parsons

I could do this all day. I better quit now before I get too carried away. All you Canadians out there: What's your favorite Heritage Minute?

Always Remember

Today is Remembrance Day. Things I Love Thursday will be taking this week off, and instead we'll take a moment to remember the sacrifices of members of the armed forces and of civilians in times of war and thank those that continue to serve our country.

Around the Web (and a notice)

Notice: I'm giving up week review/week ahead from here forward. I'm replacing it with a round up of links only, because...well, it's kind of dull and I'm tired of doing it. So, lets get on with the Links! I'll try to make it a good one, ok?

From The Bloggess's Parenting Column: Lesson Three: Your Kids Names Are Stupid. Stop Doing that.

Why is there a usb key sticking out of this wall? - an awesome idea that some asshole will probably come along and ruin with a virus.

Cookies by Douglas Adams - I have the book this was taken out of. I love it, and I'd forgotten about it. Awesome story.

Time for some crazy adorable photos: The Sand Cats at Parken Zoo in Sweden.

Some more awesome pictures: Crazy nail art. Technically...(this rocks). Awesome...night sky...something (hard to explain).

This bunny gif photo...I watched it for like, three minutes, wondering if something was going to happen. Nothing happened. Loved it anyway.

hey, remember way back there were several stories about McDonald's Hamburgers that don't rot? Well, it's true that, given the right conditions, they don't, but the reasoning that it's because they are "a chemical food. There is absolutely no nutrition here. Not one ounce of food value."(Karen Hanrahan) is just bad science. Check it: The Myth of the 12-year-old Hamburger and The Testing Results. I'm with the article author: I don't really care about McDonald's hamburgers (in fact, I just don't really like them and rarely eat them) but I do care about bad science. Stop Bad Science!

Today is the day to get your read on. Or something. Just go read a book, ok? I recommend anything by Douglas Adams.
