7 Small Things that are Awesome

I work in a call center. There are no cubicles, just long row desks with a workstation set up at each indent. Every morning I get to work, fire up the computer at my preferred workstation and go looking for a suitable chair. You see, just about every chair in the center has something wrong with it. Either it doesn't go up and down, it it's missing the levers to adjust them, it squeaks every time you breath or any number of other issues. So, one recent Monday morning, I found a chair that HAD NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. It's such a small thing, but it was pretty awesome at the time, and really made my morning a little better. It made me think of some other small moments that totally rock.

  • When You buy something and it's cheaper then the tag price when the cashier rings it in.
  • Waking up thinking it's Thursday, and finding out it's actually Friday.
  • When you buy something from a vending machine and two things fall.
  • When you find money you didn't know you had in the pocket of something you haven't worn for awhile.
  • Waking up before the alarm, and realizing you have tons of time left to sleep.
  • When a song you used to love, but had forgotten about comes on the radio.
  • When you're running late for an appointment/work/whatever, and you hit every green light.

What about you? What's your favorite awesome small moment?

ps: if this sort of thing delights you (as it does me!), you should check out 1000 Awesome Things. It's pretty much just like this post, but much much much better.

Things I Love Thursday

My Back Deck - The Boyfriend and my parents finished the main part yesterday afternoon while I was at work (there's just some railings and other small things left) and it's beautiful.

Fresh Picked Strawberries - On Sunday we were at my Grandfather's for Father's Day, and my mom, my aunts and I picked strawberries from his little strawberry patch. Yum! And, my couple of strawberry plants have had a few berries on them as well! There is nothing better then fresh picked strawberries. They are so much better then the ones from the store.

A little bit of sun - It's been raining for what seems like FOREVER (Reality: 5 days or so), so seeing the sun when I left work yesterday afternoon was a welcome surprise! Even if it was crazy humid. Today was kinda the same. Drizzly and gross in the morning, sunny and humid in the afternoon. Weird. But great.

Lilies! - My lilies are in bloom, and that brings me endless joy.

Other: Coffee, Kraft Dinner (unnaturally orange cheesy goodness), The Sims3 (still), Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie, Getting a good annual performance review at work, Dark dark dark blue nail polish, payweek!, midday chocolate milk breaks, cbc radio.

Things I Love Thursday

- Coffee
Coffee almost always tops my list. I Love Coffee!

- Chocolate Milk
Creamy, smooth, chocolaty milk. Mmmm.

- Walks
I've been going for walks with Jasmine every day this week. Even though she's completely foolish on the leash still, I've really enjoyed our daily walks. Plus it's been sunny and hot, which is a bonus.

- The Sims 3
I've been a huge sims fan since the original game. I really am enjoying this newest version. I like that the sims can walk around their neighbor hoods now, and am having fun learning all the new features.

- Alice and Kev
Speaking of The Sims 3, this is the story of two homeless sims. I know, it sounds kind of dull, but it's actually pretty internesting.

- My Clothes Line
When we first moved into our house, we didn't have a clothes line. It didn't much matter at the time, because it was February, but once it warmed up I really wanted to be able to hang my clothes outside again. The boyfriend put up a clothes line for me a few weeks ago. yay! Bonuses - it's good for the environment AND my power bill will be lower!

- etc.
Teal nail polish, the tv shows Royal Pains, Burn Notice & Mental, sitting on my back deck sipping beer, yellow finches & nuthatches, my strawberry plants (some of the berries are starting to turn red!), my new garden out front and This (click it. Seriously it's really funny).

Hello World

Hi Internet, I'm dee, and this is my newest site. The last place I've posted with any regularity was over on vox. My reason for changing? I don't know...boredom, the need for something different, wanting to give blogger a try...all good (true) reasons. I also had short affair with a free wordpress blog, but it left me underwhelmed. And thus, here I am.

I hummed and hawed over whither or not I was going to post a 'get to know me' first post or not. I'm really not good at these sorts of things and for the most part, no one cares, right? But then I got bored (I'm sensing a trend...) and decided, what the hell, I might as well do it so I can get on to more interesting things.

So. I'm dee. I live in small town Nova Scotia in a house with The Boyfriend, a fluffy kitty named Memo, and a beagle puppy named Jasmine.

I work in a call center, doing internet tech support, which as you can imagine is mostly terrible. It's by far not the worst job I've had though. It does give me lots of time to surf the net (in between calls!), and I have learned a ton from it, some useful, some not. Some people who work with me say they get bored of the internet, which I just don't get. How could you get bored of the internet? There is so much to see and do and learn! Where else can you learn how to make jalepeƱo infused tequila, read scandaous facts about historical figures AND see a photo of a cirucs lion in a bathtub? I Love The Internet.

I'm interested in photography (me @ flicker), and I also like reading, drinking, learning new things, bacon, playing the sims (Oh my god, the sims 3? Totally awesome, completly obsessed.), etc, etc.

So, that's me in a nutshell. What should you watch this space for? In short - this, that and a little of anything. Chances are you might see links to interesting things online, photos, videos, stories, product revies and more. I hope you'll come back and check it out.
