Notice: I'm giving up week review/week ahead from here forward. I'm replacing it with a round up of links only, because...well, it's kind of dull and I'm tired of doing it. So, lets get on with the Links! I'll try to make it a good one, ok?
From The Bloggess's Parenting Column: Lesson Three: Your Kids Names Are Stupid. Stop Doing that.
Why is there a usb key sticking out of this wall? - an awesome idea that some asshole will probably come along and ruin with a virus.
Cookies by Douglas Adams - I have the book this was taken out of. I love it, and I'd forgotten about it. Awesome story.
Time for some crazy adorable photos: The Sand Cats at Parken Zoo in Sweden.
Some more awesome pictures: Crazy nail art. Technically...(this rocks). Awesome...night sky...something (hard to explain).

This bunny gif photo...I watched it for like, three minutes, wondering if something was going to happen. Nothing happened. Loved it anyway.

hey, remember way back there were several stories about McDonald's Hamburgers that don't rot? Well, it's true that, given the right conditions, they don't, but the reasoning that it's because they are "a chemical food. There is absolutely no nutrition here. Not one ounce of food value."(Karen Hanrahan) is just bad science. Check it: The Myth of the 12-year-old Hamburger and The Testing Results. I'm with the article author: I don't really care about McDonald's hamburgers (in fact, I just don't really like them and rarely eat them) but I do care about bad science. Stop Bad Science!
Try this self-control trick and remember that delayed gratification makes us happier!
The Sabbath Manifesto is intriguing to me. I don't know if I'll try it out or not, but it's interesting none the less.

Happy Sunday and Happy Halloween! Last week I had plans to get in some exercise and cut out sugar. I thought I'd be ok with the sugar thing, since it's only for a week and Halloween is today - technically a new week. Also, we didn't buy any Halloween candy because I have to work tonight so I wont be giving out candy. The Fiance is going to hide out at his parents, because no one wants to give out candy alone. So, that means no candy that I can sneak into before or after the night in question. So...no sugar. That was the plan. It was a huge failure, though. mega. Better luck next time, I guess. The exercise - I did pretty well on that front! I went for several walks with the dog. I at least got half way there

10 Bizarre Allergies Can you imagine being allergic to water? Crazy!
umm...yeah. That's it. pretty sad set of links, if you as me.
This week, I start another round of night shifts. Two weeks of nights, to be exact. Yuck. So I'll be lucky if I get anything done while I adjust to that change. Things may be pretty quiet around here this week.

Happy Sunday! Last week, I was dealing with an awful cold and getting back to work after my vacation. I'm still fighting this cold. It's really hanging on. What's really annoying is that The Fiance got it way after me and he's already almost over it. I tried to get lots of sleep, but that's easier said then done.

Yeah, those are snowflakes in that picture. Gross. I'm also going to try to cut out sugar for the week. We'll see how that goes.
How was your week? Have you seen any snow where you are yet? What do you hope to accomplish this week?

Happy Sunday! I've been on vacation for the last week. Back to work tomorrow! I wanted to get lots of cleaning done, relax, eat healthier and go on some major walks. Relax -check! Walks -check! Eat healthier...uh, half a check? ditto on the cleaning. I developed a pretty awful cold towards the middle of the week, which made getting anything done even more of a battle. Plus, when I have a cold (unlike most other sicknesses) all I want to do is eat. It's weird.

Today is Wear Something Gaudy Day. Do with that what you will.
As you may or may not be aware, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This past Friday, in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia a group raised $20,000 for breast cancer research when they attempted to break the world record for the longest ever soccer match. They didn't make it due to wind and rain (leading to five players getting injured) but they made a great effort and I'm proud to say that this was attempted in my home province. Way to go!
Here are a whole bunch of links to cupcakes in jars.

20 Wet (and not so Happy) Kitties - Awwww! Wet kitties!
Speaking of kitty photos, this one is awesome!
I've been looking at way too much wedding stuff online recently. Even if you're not into that sort of thing, you should check out this wedding profile, if only to see a mustached VW Bug. Total coolness.

This week, I'm going to start off with lots of rest to kick this cold while at the same time go back to work after being off for a little over a week. That should go well.

Week in Review, Week Ahead
It's a new week! I'm way late posting this week, because I was away for Thanksgiving and I had no internet access. We were out to camp, on an island, with no electricity (ok, well, we had a generator). It was a blast. Last week, I was going to do all the things I'd been putting off for awhile. And I didn't. I made excuses. They weren't even particularly good excuses. I didn't even come close to getting half of what I wanted to do done. Last week was a write off, productivity wise. Now, the week was pretty awesome towards the end (got to see my brother and sister-in-law, I ask my two bridesmaids if they'd be my bridesmaids, went wine tasting, went on a ghost walk, had thanksgiving...), so that makes up for it.

This week, I'm on vacation! So, that means I'll be able to make up for the non-productivity of last week. I want to get lots of walks in and get all of my cleaning done. I'm also going to get back on track with my healthy eating and find some time to relax.

Happy Monday to all! Oh wow, this is late. Oh well, better late then never, right? Yeah, we'll go with that. Anywho, Last week, I was determined to be ultra productive. And...I...well...I was semi-productive, I guess. I got some things done. Not as much as I'd hoped, but...yeah. Things were done.

Deep Fried Beer - From what I understand, it's a deep fried ravioli, made from a pretzel-like dough, filled with beer. I think the beer is still liquid. Sounds weird. I'd try it though.
Red Eye - "A visual diary documenting a flight from New York to Berlin (with a layover in London)." - totally cute.

This paper gift topper is fantastic! I couldn't make it, since I can barely tie a bow around a present, but they make it look really easy!
This week, I've got four days (counting today) untill my Thanksgiving Vacation! I've finally got July's photos all posted to flickr, so I'll be working on getting August edited and posted. I'm also going to be cleaning my house top to bottom, because I've been putting it off for much too long. It's not that my house is dirty or messy, per se. It's just things like the baseboards, and the curtains and cupboards. Plus all my everyday regular cleaning. That I didn't get much done of last week. So that should take up pretty much all of my time.

Welcome to a new week! Last week, I wanted to clear out my closet, which I did, somewhat, and the get some photo editing done, which I didn't, untill this morning, if that counts for anything. I also wanted to go for a big walk, but it wasn't in the cards. I did, however, get my hair cut, something I'd been putting off for two years.
It really makes it hit home how much my Happiness Commandment, Look Good, Feel Good, really does work. I find myself smiling more, feeling better about myself, more confidant.

This week, I'm back on day shifts, so I'll probably spend most of my time exhausted and trying to readjust. Hopefully I'll find some way to be productive

Happy Sunday! Last week, I did get some of that photo editing done that I've been talking about every week forever. I'm getting closer! The walks...well, I went on one big walk and one little one, which is better then nothing.
A few links:

88 Brilliant Examples of Forced Prospective Photography - Some of these have been circulating the internet for ages now, some were new to me. All were incredible.
XKCD Wedding Cake - How seriously cool is that?
Earth From Above a collection of aerial photography produced by Yann Arthus-Bertrand.
This week, I'm still on a night shift, with weird days off, so my schedule is still a little out of whack. I want to tackle two projects: photo editing (getting there, little by little) and my closet (it is over flowing with clothes that I just don't wear). And I want to go on at least one epic walk (an hour or more). That should keep me busy, I'm sure.

Week in Review, Week Ahead
Welcome to a new week! Two Weeks Ago, I posted my last weekly review, which was also two weeks in one...No, I don't plan on making it Bi-week in Review, Bi-week ahead. I'd say it's been busy, but that would be a lie. It's been the same amount of busy as normal. Only four big things have been going on: Last Friday (Aug 27th) my boyfriend of almost 8 years asked me to marry him (!! - very exciting!), I had a bit off a fall (the details are a little hazy...there may have been alcohol involved) that lead to some major bruises (otherwise I'm thankfully alright), I had a job interview (that went way better then I'd expected) and it's been insanely hot. In my last weekly round up, I planned to get some photo editing done, and I did! I also got them posted to flickr, which was an extra bonus. That's May's photo's completed, now I just need to do June through August, and then start on September. Yeah, I'm a little behind. I have, however organized and named all of the photos I've taken up to yesterday, so now it's just a matter of editing and posting.
Cool stuff from around the internet:

Because Messy is Fun - Read this, it's awesome.

The Eternal Value of Privacy - Why privacy is important, even when you're not doing anything wrong.

I can't...even describe this. It's too incredible.
The 7 Most Badass Women in History
Weird news: A Florida man was arrested for yelling at his bicycle.
The Last Psychiatrist on the Love The Way You Lie video - brilliant piece.
Yes and Yes alerts us to an awesome FREE e-book! A Brief Guide to World Domination. It's absolutely excellent and would definitely suggest reading it.
This week, I'm on a night shift again, so my schedule is a little off. I'm hoping to have some time in the morning to go on a couple of major walks, now that the heat wave seems to have past. I'm also going to get on with this photo editing stuff.

Happy Sunday! It's again been two weeks since my last week ahead, week review post. This time, I blame coming down with a case of the slack. Anyway, Last Time, I had a new exercise plan in place, and I wanted to get my photos organized. My exercise plan has been going exactly to plan. Which probably means it's a good time to change things up, before I get bored. It's a pretty flexible plan though, so I think I'll give it some more time before messing with it. As for the photos...well, I got a little done. A little is better then nothing, right?

Welcome to a new week! My last Week ahead, Week Review was more then two weeks ago now, (oops...sorry) due to a week working night shift where I didn't just sit at a computer all week, followed by a regular week in which I was away camping when it came time to post. Meh, life. So anyway..yeah. Who knows (or cares) if I did what I said I was going to do. It's all good, right?
Hey, how about some Links?:

Tokyo's 'oldest man' had been dead for 30 years - officials found his mummified remains in is bed when they went to congratulate him on his 111th birthday. If you're thinking he lived by himself and no one noticed or cared that he died...think again. This story is so weird.
Introducing the Candwich - It's a sandwich. In a can.
My New Favorite Cake Wreck - Why did you buy that cake?

This week, I've got a new exercise plan that I'm working on. I'm also going to try to get my photos organized, since I haven't done anything with them since May. It's kind of overwhelming at this point, but that's my fault.

Welcome to a new week! Holy crap, I haven't posted anything at all since my last week in review! I'd blame work and life and busyness and the heat, but they'd all just be excuses. And bad ones at that. Anyway, Last week, I wanted to again do an hour of activity a day. I did pretty good, except yesterday. Yesterday I did absolutely nothing all day and it was glorious. I didn't spend many of those hours outside, because it's been insanely hot. So I cleaned the house and did some weight lifting and that sort of thing. Not exactly what I'd hoped to do, but it works.

This week, my schedule is all out of sorts. I'm back to work a day early - tonight - on a night shift, I'm off a couple of days mid-week, and then it's back to night shift for the rest of the week - including Saturday. So I'm just going to try to make it through the week, ya know? Hopefully the weather will change and it won't rain (with a chance of thunder showers!) on both my days off so maybe I can go for a walk or two. Other then that...we'll see how things go.

Happy Sunday! Last week, I made new commitments to old goals. Mainly, I was committing to doing an hour of activity a day. I'm using the word activity, because it doesn't necessarily have to be traditional exercise. There was some of that, but I also did some major house cleaning and spent time in my garden, among other things.
Here's some cool stuff I found online this past week:
From Cracked.com: The 10 Most Important Things They Didn't Teach You In School & 7 Classic Disney Movies Based on R-Rated Stories (some of these I already knew, some I didn't).
It was A Laid Back Weekend at the Flickr blog. Click for photos of sleepy doggies.
Typos are Funny. And gross.
cat vs human - quite possibly the best thing ever.
-Itis (A Sick Quiz)
Unicorn Crossing Sign
101 Thing to Grill
This is hilarious. If you've ever dealt with a dog that that you think may be kind of...not all there, you will laugh your ass off. Seriously. (via gala darling)
This week, same goal as last week. An hour a day. It's more important that I get it done this week, because next week I'll be working a night shift (off at 1am...Yuck!), so I don't know how much exercise I'll get in.

Happy Sunday to all! Last Week, I didn't really have any goals. More of non-goals. I did pretty well. I mostly didn't do the things I had planned not to do. So I call that I win.

This week is the first week of a new month! So I've revamped my goals and hopes and dreams and what not. My main focus is still on my exercise and fitness goals. This week, I'm committing to an hour of activity a day. Every day from now untill next Sunday. This is a big jump, but I'm confidant I can do it. I already have today's hour (plus an extra half hour) done and out of the way, and it's not even noon yet. Jasmine and and I went and explored the new walking trails downtown (they're really really nice).
What's up with you this week? Got any new goals for July?

Hello, and welcome to a brand new week! Uh, Yeah, it's Monday. Isn't this supposed to happen on Sunday? Whoops. Spent a little too much time playing The Sims 3 yesterday, and now here we are. ANYWAY. Last week, I gave myself one last chance at exercise that didn't feel like exercise. and Photo editing. Guess what? I didn't do either. Yes, my work schedule was kinda all over the place, but that's only a little bit of an excuse. Mostly I was lazy and...yeah. Yeah.
Cool stuff from around the web:
Peanut Butter Sushi - Okay, so it's not actually sushi, because there is no rice involved, but it is adorable and probably very tasty!
Speaking of Sushi, how much do you know about it? Take this quiz to find out!
From Cracked.com: 6 Companies that Make Money Solving Problems (That They Made Up) & The 6 Most Hilarious Undercover Operations Ever Pulled Off.
This made me laugh. Really hard. People are such smart asses. (via lamebook)
Centuary of No Progress is all about Nikola Tesla. Who is awesome.
A Canadian Author's Perspective on "Radical Extremism" and Copyright. A good read and an important read.
This week, I'm going to focus on what I'm not going to do. I'm not going to waste huge heaps of time playing The Sims. In fact, I'm not going to play at all untill the weekend comes around again. And I'm not going to lounge around re-watching episodes of my fav tv shows that I've seen a million times already (no matter how enjoyable I find it!). I'm not going to look at little things I need to get done and sigh and say, "Oh, I'll do that tomorrow.".

Hello and Happy Sunday! Also, Happy Father's Day to any Dads out there! Last week, I had plans to exercise without it feeling like exercise. I did not do very well, again. I don't know, it's something I'll have to work on. And I have still not done any photo editing. Or even photo organizing. It's getting out of control.

This week, lets try one more time. Exercise that doesn't feel like exercise. and edit some photos.

Welcome to a new week! Last week, I was supposed to be all about photography and non-exercise-exercise. ...Yeah. I don't know what happened, but I didn't do hardly half the things I planned to do. I did get some cleaning done, but Monday-Friday that's about all I got done. Saturday, I did get the garden weeded, so I guess that's something.
The Four Most Awesome Things I Saw This Week From My Car:
1. The heron in the duck pond on the way to work - I've been seeing it for a few weeks now, but it still makes me giddy with happiness. A heron! What is it doing in the duck pond (which, by the way, I have not seen any ducks in for more then a month..)? Just hanging out, I guess.
2. A really, really low flying plane. - It was a big plane too. Not the small ones that I'd expect would be going to the Waterville Airport. It must have been going to Greenwood. It did look like a military plane. Anyway! Big plane flying really low - very cool.
3 & 4. A Tiger and a Camel - When I went to pick up The Boyfriend from work Thursday evening, I drove by the rink downtown. I'd forgotten the circus was being held that night! They had the back parking lot all fenced in, and I saw a camel walking around, and in a smaller caged in area, a tiger!
Here's some cool stuff I found online this week:
Movies By the Numbers: From Zero to One Million shows that filmmakers love putting numbers in their movie titles. This is very cool. There's not a movie for every number (can you imagine?!) but it is still three pages of awesome.
Sarah Von at yes and yes is looking for more people to interview for her True Story series. Do any of these sound like you or someone you know?
Quiz: Is There a Chicken Soup for the Soul for That?
Will Our Galactic overlords be Titanish? There has been some evidence of a possibility that there could be alien life on Saturn's Moon Titan. Maybe.
I've signed up for mental_floss' Watercooler Ammo and today, because of it, I Learned about Zombie Fit "Fitness to Survive the Apocalypse". From the Zombie Fit Site: What is functional fitness? We think it is the ability to perform any given task, at anytime, quickly and efficiently. Functional fitness and situational awareness are necessary skills that are lacking in today's society. ZombieFit hopes to change that. What if you woke up tomorrow to find your city overridden with zombies, would you survive? This may seem childish, but by preparing for the impossible, you'll be ready for the improbable. I think this is very cool, creative marketing and I wish there were classes in my area!
Dear Hotmail: What the Hell Happened to You? Ah hotmail. I remember when you used to be awesome.
And they Walked Away: The Stories of 5 Strange Injuries. Number 4 is the worst/best. It's very much car accident like - Makes you sick to your stomach but you can't look away. Or stop reading. When they said it was gruesome, they weren't joking.
Glee vs copyright: do as I say, not as I do An interesting look at how many of the things done on the tv show 'Glee' would be copyright violations in real life. With insanely high penalties. I don't actually watch the show, but the article is still very interesting.
I love people talking about their dogs. Gala Darling posts about 10 year old Hank Williams and new edition to the family, Dolly.
Celebrities Eating Dot Com - exactly what it sounds like. Interesting, if you're into that sort of thing. This is me once again glad that I'm glad I'm not a celebrity...
Will they build it? McDonald's Double Breakfast EggMc Big Mac What exactly is a Double Breakfast EggMc Big Mac? I'll give you a hint: It's insane, and you wouldn't be able to eat it as is without dislocating your jaw.
This week, same plan as last week, but with a little more follow through.

Hello and Happy Sunday! Last week, I finished up 4 weeks to a better body. Did I notice a difference? No, not really. But, even so, I know it was good for me. I know I have got to be a bit stronger because of it. Right? Tuesday was the start of a new month, so I spent some time creating some new goals. Or, more precisely, I moved all the goals from last month on to this month, because aside from my exercise goals, I majorly slacked off last month. It's in the past now, so no use dwelling, right. Look to the future, and all that.
